AYFN is delighted to invite you joining our culture camp in Japan. This is a distinguished program that suits your curiosity to have experimental learning!! Youth and cultural program!
Program description
Japan Culture Camp by AYFN is a cultural learning program designed to give an understanding on culture and social awareness for participants. This program enables participants to learn about Japanese culture in line with making a friend directly. This program is also an avenue to enhance knowledge and skill to face globalization. This is not student exchange, but youth and cultural exchange program.

Activities
- Cultural tour activities in Kyoto and Osaka, whereby both cities are well known as the center of Japanese culture.
- Visit many interesting places both in Kyoto or Osaka, e.g : Osaka castle, Gion District in Kyoto (Geisha), Namba district, Arashiyama, and etc.
- Taste authentic Japanese cuisine (sushi)
- Walk around heritage area of Kyoto.
How does the Japan Culture Camp will work?
- Participants will be met up in Japan
- The camp will combine sense of friendship, adventure and cultural awareness
- Participants will live for 6 days in Kyoto, Japan
- The camp needs participants who passionate in international friendship and adapt new environment (culture differences) easily
Location of Japan Culture Camp
This camp will take place in Kyoto and Osaka. Both cities are famous as Cultural city in Japan. Participants in the program will have the unique opportunity to live and study in Kyoto—the historic former capital of Japan, replete with its temples, shrines and traditional gardens. It is our hope that the program will inspire youth to pursue adventurous and productive careers and contribute to the advancement of science.
Start and duration of Japan Culture Camp
This camp will be started in 29 January 2018 (Arrival in Kyoto) and will be ended in 3 February 2018. Participants will start their program at 7.30 a.m – 5.00 p.m every day. In the evening, participants will have free time to explore the magnificent of Kyoto and Osaka or go shopping.
Requirements to take part at Japan Culture Camp
The participants of Japan Culture Camp should meet the criteria as follow:
- Must be 15 – 27 Years old
- All nationalities are welcomed
- Commit to join full program
- Able to adapt new environment easily
- Able to pay the program fee
- Health physically and mentally

Accommodation and meals during camp
During this camp, participants will be accommodated in hotel with high quality standard. Living conditions in the hotel is very good and very clean (3 star hotel and good location) . Males and females are accommodated in separate room.
Japan is renowned for its tasty and healthy food. Who don’t know Sushi, Ramen, Udon, etc? Breakfast will be provided during the camp. But, for lunch and dinner, you should buy by yourselves. There are numerous amazing restaurants throughout Kyoto and Osaka which you will be directed to by program staff if you wish to eat out occasionally.
Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrival in Kansai International Airport, Osaka, Transfer to Kyoto by Haruka Train and hotel check in. Free time. Campers can go around Kyoto. |
Day 2 | Start the day by having light breakfast to energize body and mind. In the morning, we will pay visit to Kyoto University (one of the oldest and finest universities in Japan). We will stroll around the campus. Then, to fill up our stomach by having lunch at University canteen or local restaurant (pay by yourself). In the afternoon, we will visit Fushimi Inari shrine. The beautiful shrine. |
Day 3 | After having light breakfast, let’s visit Yasaka Shrine, also known as Gion Shrine, is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto. Founded over 1350 years ago, the shrine is located between the popular Gion District and Higashiyama District, and is often visited by tourists walking between the two districts. Lunch will be at Halal ramen restaurant (pay by yourself). After having a lunch, let’s move to Gion where you can capture the traditional houses of Japan. In the evening, we will visit Shijo area to go shopping. |
Day 4 | Wow,,, it’s time to experience Shinkansen Bullet Train. The fastest train. We will take the train from Kyoto Station to Shin Osaka station. To enrich our knowledge about Japan’s History, let’s explore Osaka Castle. The huge castle surrounded by park and located nearby Osaka Business district. Tired to explore Osaka castle? No worry. Sushi is awaiting you at Sinsahbashi area. We will finish our day to go shopping around Namba. |
Day 5 | Relax a while in Kyoto by visiting Bamboo forest and Arasiyama. |
Day 6 | Fly back home |
Refund policy
Program Cancellation by organizer
- ASEAN Youth Friendship Network (AYFN) reserves the right to cancel a program due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the program non-viable.
- If AYFN cancels a program, registrants will be offered a full refund (program fee ONLY).
- Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of a program, AYFN has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer registration to the same program at the new, future date.
Registration Cancellation by Participant
- The following penalties shall apply, if otherwise specified. If you cancel more than 30 days before scheduled program departure in Japan, the cancellation charge will be 20% of the listed program fare. If you cancel 15-29 days before scheduled program departure in Japan, the cancellation charge will be 70% of the listed program fare. If you cancel 1-14 days before scheduled program departure in Japan, the cancellation charge will be 100% of the listed program fare.
- No show will be considered as a cancellation on program departure date
- Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
- Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend a program.
- Cancellations will be accepted in writing only and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline.
- All refund requests must be made by the attendee.
- Refund requests must include the name of the attendee and/or transaction number.
- These above policies apply to all AYFN program unless otherwise noted in the corresponding program materials. Please read all individual program information thoroughly.
