Testimony from AISEF’s alumnae program

“Sawadee-krap, my name is Iryanda Mardanuz, usually called Yanda. Basically, i do love travel, but my type of travel is kinda little bit different, i like to do travelling with more than just sightseeing, but to know deeper. What is it mean by deeper? There are actually many things you can possibly do when you are in another countries, for example you can learn the cultures, language, habits, but what i like the most is to enter and break the gap between me as a foreigners and them, as native. And my 7 days in Chiang Mai, on and off the program, is really a good experience that you should experience it too.

AYFN, with the program called AISEF, directly attracted me. Why? Because the program is too good to be ignore!! You will get an unforgettable experience of 7-magnificent-day program in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There, you will get a chance to learn many things about Thai culture, how to cook a real Thai Food taught by a real Thai Chef, learning the original Northern Thai Dance called ‘Lanna Dance’, experiencing Chiang Mai Tourism and its traditional Northern Thai Cuisine, learning Thai Language, and many more. But what actually surprised me is that we will attend the glorious, famous, Thai Songkran Festival, witness and experiencing it first hand, and to be honest, you should attend it as well, it was one of the best moment in my life.

That’s not all, which makes me more comfortable when attending AISEF Program is the organizing committee, the local Thai organizer, and of course, the Thai Buddies. What is Thai Buddies? From the first day you will be introduced with a real Thai native, actually they are student too and we will do many activity together with them until the last day. Not just very helping to guide us there, they also very kind and generous to explain many things relating to language and culture barrier there and makes me just so hard to leave Chiang Mai. Well, there are still a lot of things i could tell, but i think the most effective way is by saying this simple statement, experience it yourself.. You will not regret it, trust me!”

AISEF is a Tremendous Experience

Hi my name is Reza and i was an AISEF participant in April 2013. Its great to recognize that AISEF was a golden gate for my international experience. After failed in two exchange opportunities in Japan and Singapore, AISEF was a candlelight in a dark place. Well actually to register this program was a very coincidence. My high school friend told me about this and i apllied it directly, yes i do. After waiting for almost a week, the official announcement was out and thank god i found my name on the list. During the administration process i thought AYFN did a very good job as an organizer. When i asked for some letter due to fund requirement from my university, they did cooperatively because it was an important thing for my departure. Not only for an administration process, but also for the program and hospitality in Thailand. When we (Indonesian delegation) arrived in Chiang Mai International Airport we was welcomed by local students and immediately felt the international atmosphere out there. ASIEF itself contain for some program like language class, culture, cooking class, tourism and it all mostly about Thailand which i never know before, so interesting. After sit for some hours in the class, we also visit the Elephant Camp as we know that Thailand is a famous country by this kind of animal. We riding elephant, bamboo rafting, and yeah, we had fun in there. One that i never forget is Songkran festival. Because this program is a special edition (organizer said) we also had an opportunity to celebrate Thai new year festival which we called as Songkran festival. Everyone will take to the street and bring their water gun or a bucket of water to splash other person and no one should get angry over this. It was an unique yet fun festival i thought. One of AYFN objective is to make a friendship across nation and yes we did a friendship with Thai student until now. They are very welcomed to us and so do Indonesian. Thank you AYFN for making one of my dream came true.”
