Program description
Japan Culture Camp by AYFN is a cultural learning program designed to give an understanding on culture and social awareness for participants. This program enables participants to learn about Japanese culture in line with making a friend directly. This program is also an avenue to enhance knowledge and skill to face globalization. This is not student exchange, but youth and cultural exchange program.

Activities
- Cultural tour activities in Kyoto and Osaka, whereby both cities are well known as the center of Japanese culture.
- Visit many interesting places both in Kyoto or Osaka, e.g : Osaka castle, Gion District in Kyoto (Geisha), Namba district, Arashiyama, and etc.
- Taste authentic Japanese cuisine
- Walk around heritage area of Kyoto.
How does the Japan Culture Camp will work?
- Participants will be met up in Japan
- The camp will combine sense of friendship, adventure and cultural awareness
- Participants will live for 5 days in Osaka, Japan
- The camp needs participants who passionate in international friendship and adapt new environment (culture differences) easily
Location of Japan Culture Camp
This camp will take place in Osaka and Kyoto. Both cities are famous as Cultural city in Japan. Participants in the program will have the unique opportunity to live in Osaka and Kyoto—the historic former capital of Japan, replete with its temples, shrines and traditional gardens. It is our hope that the program will inspire youth to pursue adventurous and productive careers and contribute to the advancement of science.
Start and duration of Japan Culture Camp
This camp will be started in 19 January 2020 (Arrival in Osaka) and will be ended in 23 January 2020. Participants will start their program at 7.30 a.m – 5.00 p.m every day. In the evening, participants will have free time to explore the magnificent of Kyoto and Osaka or go shopping.
AYFN offers two scheme of participation :
1. SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
Scholarship scheme will benefit for selected applicants. AYFN will waive the program fee and travel expense. There will be selection process to get this opportunity (limited slots: 5 only). AYFN will select the candidates using some assessments (documents review, creativity assessment (video making) and online interview)
Awardee will get :
- Flight ticket from home country (capital city) to Osaka (Japan) return (economy class).
- Accommodation (5D4N) in Osaka, Japan.
- Meal (Breakfast and Lunch)
- Pick up (Kansai International Airport, Osaka)
- All activities indicated on schedule.
- Entrance ticket to tourism spot
- Local transportation (Train and Bus)
- E-Certificate of participation from AYFN
- Program supervision
- In-country administration costs
Excluded in the scholarship
- Dinner
- Personal expenses
- Airport transfer after the program ends (From hotel to airport)
- Visa and passport
Requirements to apply Winter Japan Culture Camp 2020
The applicants of Winter Japan Culture Camp 2020 should meet the criteria as follow:
- Must be 15 – 35 Years old
- All nationalities are welcomed to apply
- Commit to join full program
- Able to adapt new environment easily
- Able to pay the application (selection) fee
- Health physically and mentally

2. Pay the NON REFUNDABLE application (selection) fee.
- Non member of AYFN : USD 15
- Member of AYFN : USD 10
If your country is not listed at above method, you can pay via goers. Click here to pay. Note: The rate is indicated in Indonesian Rupiah as our office of AYFN is located in Indonesia. However, we have converted the currency plus service charge.
Note : You are required to pay using Credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Union pay). We don’t accept payment by cash and other methods. This payment is non refundable if your application is rejected. If you don’t have kind of the cards, you can use your relatives/friends/family card to pay. The applicants of Winter Japan Culture Camp 2020 should meet the criteria as follow:

The program fee is USD 550 (non member), USD 475 (Member of AYFN).

Accommodation and meals during camp
During this camp, participants will be accommodated in hotel with high quality standard. Living conditions in the hotel is very good and very clean . Males and females are accommodated in separate room. To enrich about Japanese Culture (daily life of Japanese), all participants will take public transports (Train and Bus) to go around the city during the camp.
Japan is renowned for its tasty and healthy food. Who don’t know Sushi, Ramen, Udon, etc? Breakfast will be provided during the camp. But, for lunch and dinner, you should buy by yourselves. There are numerous amazing restaurants throughout Kyoto and Osaka which you will be directed to by program staff if you wish to eat out occasionally.
Itinerary
Day 1 | Pick up at Kansai International Airport(11.00 – 15.00). The hotel check in will be at 15.00. After check in, let’s have immersion trip to Dotonburi, Namba |
Day 2 | Start the day by having light breakfast to energize body and mind. In the morning, we will pay visit to Kyoto University (one of the oldest and finest universities in Japan). We will stroll around the campus. Then, to fill up our stomach by having lunch at University canteen or local restaurant . In the afternoon, let’s visit Yasaka Shrine, also known as Gion Shrine, is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto. Founded over 1350 years ago, the shrine is located between the popular Gion District and Higashiyama District, and is often visited by tourists walking between the two districts. let’s move to Gion where you can capture the traditional houses of Japan. |
Day 3 | After having light breakfast, to enrich our knowledge about Japan’s History, let’s explore Osaka Castle. The huge castle surrounded by park and located nearby Osaka Business district. Tired to explore Osaka castle? No worry. Let’s have lunch (Ramen). Then let’s move to Fushimi Inari Taisha, the beautiful shrine in Kyoto. |
Day 4 | Let’s have a memorable activity by visiting Cup Noodle Museum. You woll have a chance to make your own cup noodle. Lunch will be provided at near by the museum. After that, Relax a while in Kyoto by visiting Bamboo forest and Arashiyama. |
Day 5 | Let’s have farewell breakfast at Hotel restaurant. The, check out and Fly back home |
