Don’t miss this life-enriching journey—seize the chance to expand your horizons and create unforgettable memories at Korean Culture Camp 2026!

Overview of the program

Discover the vibrant heart of South Korea this summer with the AYFN Korean Culture Camp Program 2026. Organized by The AYFN Academy, this short-term immersion program invites students and lifelong learners to gain a deeper appreciation of the Republic of South Korea. By combining cultural workshops with guided tours, participants will experience the country’s fascinating blend of time-honored traditions and modern innovation.

The itinerary is crafted to engage all your senses. From exploring ancient palaces and wearing traditional hanbok to navigating the lively streets of Myeongdong and enjoying authentic cuisine, every activity offers a new perspective. Open to international applicants, the program prioritizes experiential learning to foster cross-cultural understanding. Join us to build lasting international friendships and create unforgettable memories while connecting with Korea’s rich heritage. Date of program =  9 – 14 August 2026

Why should you join?

  • Authentic Cultural Immersion: Unlike a standard vacation, this program offers a “short-term immersion.” You won’t just see Korea; you will live it. You gain access to a curated blend of activities that might be hard to organize on your own. Witness the unique duality of the country—the sharp contrast and harmony between the ancient history (palaces, hanbok) and hyper-modernity (technology, bustling shopping districts).
  • Global Networking & Friendship: Since the program is open to international participants, you will meet diverse youth from around the world. The shared experience of exploring a new country fosters deep bonds. You will leave with a network of international friends, which is valuable for both personal life and future professional opportunities.
  • Experiential Learning & Education: You aren’t just reading about culture; you are wearing the hanbok, walking the palace grounds, and navigating the streets. This “experiential learning” reinforces memory and understanding much better than classroom study alone. By engaging with a new culture and international peers, you develop adaptability, empathy, and a global mindset—soft skills that are highly valued in universities and by employers.
  • Personal Growth: Stepping out of your comfort zone to explore Seoul expands your worldview and challenges your assumptions. Navigating a foreign country (even within a guided program) boosts self-reliance and confidence in traveling abroad.

Activities

Participants will have the exciting opportunity to eat traditional food kimchi—the iconic Korean dish—hands-on, gaining insight into Korea’s rich culinary heritage. Alongside this, they will immerse themselves in traditional culture by wearing hanbok, Korea’s elegant traditional clothing, and taking part in other authentic cultural activities.

The program also includes a comprehensive Seoul tour, where participants will visit key cultural and historical landmarks that reflect the heart and soul of Korea. The tour itinerary features Namsan Tower, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Nami Island, and Insadong Gil—each offering unique glimpses into Korea’s history, traditions, and contemporary society. These experiences are designed to deepen cultural understanding and create lasting memories through exploration and interaction.

In addition, participants will have a change to learn the history of Korea bt Visiting the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). This trip offers a visceral, hands-on history lesson that transforms textbooks into a tangible reality. As you stand at the Dora Observatory peering through binoculars at North Korean propaganda villages, the century-long narrative of a once-unified peninsula—split since the 1953 Armistice—becomes profoundly clear. Exploring the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, a clandestine passageway dug 73 meters underground, reveals the enduring post-war tensions and the sheer scale of the ideological divide. The journey through sites like Imjingak Park and the Freedom Bridge provides a poignant look at the human cost of the conflict. Rather than just a military border, the DMZ serves as a living museum of the Cold War, reminding visitors that while the fighting paused decades ago, the hope for peace and the weight of history remain ever-present.

Accommodation and Meal during camp

Participants will stay in safe, comfortable, and well-maintained accommodations designed to enhance the cultural exchange experience. The lodging is a popular and highly social option, with rooms shared by 2–3 participants, fostering friendship and meaningful connections. Male and female participants are housed in separate rooms, ensuring a respectful and secure environment for all. The living spaces are clean, modern, and equipped with essential amenities to ensure a pleasant and restful stay throughout the camp.

Korea is globally celebrated for its delicious and nutritious cuisine, and Seoul is a food lover’s paradise. During the program, participants will have access to a wide variety of authentic Korean dishes. For those who wish to explore local dining independently, program staff will provide guidance and recommendations to some of the city’s best and most popular restaurants—offering a perfect balance between structured meals and the freedom to discover Seoul’s vibrant food scene.
