Indonesia Vietnam Youth Friendship Program 2017

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

9 – 14 October 2017

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

IVYFP 2017 is an annual program held by AYFN that promotes youth and cultural exchange program between Indonesia and Vietnam. This program enables young generation/students from both countries to know each other in line with promoting good neighborhood, ASEAN community, peace, solidarity, tolerance and people to people contact. This program was started in 2010, which later AYFN continually organizes this exchange program with support from local organization and government.

Activities of the program:

Discussion on  Bilateral relations between Indonesia and Vietnam

This agenda is intended to give further information about the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Vietnam as well as what ASEAN Community is, what youth/students should prepare, what benefit youth/students can get, and many information related to issues on upcoming integration.

Indonesian day and Cultural exhibition

This activity will show the beauty of culture. Indonesian students will present cultural performances as well as Indonesian food.

Language exchange

ASEAN region is rich in terms of language. Each nationality has its own languages. To get deepest in ASEAN friendship and understanding, we have to understand language of our counterpart. By doing this activity, we hope that participants will get a little bit of knowledge on languages spoken by ASEAN citizen. Indonesian will know about Vietnamese language and vice versa.

Understanding Vietnamese history

This agenda enables Indonesian to know about Vietnamese History.

GOALS OF THE PROGRAM

  1. To promote inter-cultural understanding, equality of opportunity, tolerance and peace between Indonesian and Vietnamese youth / students.
  2. To provide challenging inter-cultural learning experiences.
  3. To promote international friendship, volunteerism and education.
  4. To promote ASEAN community.

 

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK

  1. Participants will experience cultural exchange activities, discuss about recent issues and promote friendship between two countries.
  2. Participants will involve in social work to share a sense of humanity.
  3. Participants will get new friends and know more about Vietnam.
  4. Participants will stay for 6 (six) days in Ho Chi Minh City.
  5. Participants will have international experiences.

HOW MUCH WILL PARTICIPANTS PAY?

Location of Program

All programs will be held in Ho Chi Minh City area, Vietnam.

Accommodation and meals during program

During program in Ho Chi Minh City, participants will stay in a guesthouse. The accommodation is an enjoyable and very sociable option as you get to live and socialize with other participants and Vietnamese buddies.  Living conditions in the guesthouse are very good, clean and come with internet connection. Males and females are accommodated in separate room and per room will be occupied by 2 – 3 people.

Vietnam is renowned for its tasty and diverse food. Meals will be provided based on schedule, and consist of traditional Vietnamese dishes (NOT CONTAINING PORK), which participants generally find to be very generous and tasty. If you have special diet requirements, please let us know ahead of time so that we can make arrangements for you. However, we need to stress the point that you should not expect to eat as you normally do at home. We will do our best to see that you are well taken care of, but also as a participant, there is a need to be flexible. There are numerous amazing restaurants throughout Ho Chi Minh City which you will be directed to by program staff if you wish to eat out occasionally.

PROCEDURE TO APPLY

Are you interested to take part at Indonesia Vietnam Youth Friendship Program 2017? Apply now!!! LIMITED for 20 qualified participants only.

Requirements:

  1. Indonesian Youth only
  2. Must be 15 – 25 years old
  3. Good health (physically and mentally)
  4. Good communication skill and knowledge
  5. Able to work independently as well as work in team
  6. Able to pay program fee and transportation to and from Vietnam
  7. Able to commit to a full time program

Application procedure

  1. REGISTER ONLINE HERE
  2. The committee will review your application and contact you to conduct “interview test” by AYFN team (if needed).
  3. If you will be selected, make a payment.
  4. Deadline of admission is 10 August 2017 at 11.00 p.m. (WIB/GMT+7)

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE AND ACTIVITIES

Day 1 (Dinner)

  • Arrival of participants in HCMC (airport pick up time 09.00 – 15.00)
  • Transfer to accommodation
  • Dinner along with Meet and greet
  • Orientation: Get to know about Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Day 2 (BF and Lunch)

  • Introduction to Vietnam Language and culture
  • Friendship activity between Indonesian and Vietnamese
  • Bahasa Indonesia for Vietnamese students
  • Workshop and talk session on the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam
  • Visit the General Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City

Day 3 (BF and Lunch)

Cultural exchange program and cultural performances

Day 4 (BF and Lunch)

  • Cultural exchange to local school
  • Promote Bahasa Indonesia to local students
  • Activities with local school’s students
  • Delta Mekong Tour

Day 5 (BF and Dinner)

  • Vietnamese history: Chu Chi Tunnel

TERM AND CONDITIONS

1. DEPOSITS / FINAL PAYMENTS

50% of the total amount as deposit is due within 10 days of our confirmation. Final payment must be received by AYFN 20 days prior to program departure date.

Failure to comply with deposit and final payment requirements will cause cancellation of your participation.

 

2. CANCELLATION & REFUND

All cancellations must be informed to ASEAN Youth Friendship Network on a written statement.

The following penalties shall apply, if otherwise specified.

  • If cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to departing schedule in Vietnam, the cancellation charge will be 20% of the listed program fee.
  • If cancellation is made between 20 to 29 days prior to departing schedule in Vietnam, the cancellation charge will be 50% of the listed program fee.
  • If cancellation is made less than 20 days prior to departing schedule in Vietnam, the cancellation charge will be 100% of the listed program fee.
  • Not showing-case during the departure schedule will be considered as a cancellation in participating the program.
  • For a refund, we will refund after deduction of cancellation charge and any commission may occur during money transfer.

Please, read these information carefully:

  1. The interview will be started at 9.00 a.m – 15.00 p.m. AYFN will devide the timetable later on.
  2. If you want to show your talent (dance, sing a song, public speaking, etc) , bring your own stuffs to support your performance.
  3. For applicants who live in Yogyakarta and Jawa Tengah area are required to attend the face to face interview test.
  4. For applicants who live outside Yogyakarta and Jawa Tengah area can conduct interview test via Skype (the schedule will be on 31 January 2016). But, we encourage you to attend the face-face interview.

Wanna know about Vietnam? Or experience to have Inter-cultural learning in line with making a friend?  AYFN is delighted to invite you joining our culture and youth program in Vietnam? This is a distinguished program that suit your curiosity to have experimental learning in line with promoting Indonesian in Vietnam !!

Youth charity

Solidarity is the main important thing in ASEAN. We are born in different skin color, different nationality, different tribe, different wealth, but we are one ASEAN. Let this activity shows that we are brother. We want to contribute to less fortunate community by doing social activity such as donation distribution, teach English to children, plant trees, give new smile to inspiring children, etc. This agenda will be one of a kind.

Understanding Vietnamese history

This agenda enables Indonesian to know about Vietnamese History by visiting some historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City.

Location of Program

All programs will be held in Ho Chi Minh City area, Vietnam. It’s easy to reach HCMC from Indoensia as it has international airport, which is connected to Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur. There are many airlines that operate route form Indonesia e.g Air Asia, Tiger Airways, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Jetstar Airlines, etc.

  5. Able to pay the registration and program fee (USD 350, excluded FLIGHT to and from HCMC, Vietnam)
  6. Able to commit to a full time program

Application procedure

  3. The committee will review your application and contact you to conduct “interview test” by AYFN team.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

IVYFP 2015 is annually program held by AYFN that promote youth and cultural exchange program between Indonesia and Vietnam. This program enables young generation from both countries to know each other in line with promote peace, solidarity, tolerance and people to people contact. This program was started from 2010. AYFN continually organizes this exchange program with supporting from local organization and government.

Activities of the program:

Language exchange

ASEAN region is rich in term of language. Each nationality has its own languages. To get deepest ASEAN friendship and understanding, we have to understand language of our counterpart. By doing this activity, participants will get a little bit of knowledge on languages spoken by Vietnamese citizen. Indonesian will know about Vietnamese language, Vietnamese will learn Bahasa Indonesia

Workshop and discussion on preparation of ASEAN Community

This agenda is intended to give further information about what is ASEAN Community, what young generation should prepare, what benefit young generation can get, and many information. This workshop is expected to give insightful information on ASEAN Community 2015. Participants will have a chance to share their ideas among other participants as well.

Social night

This activity allows all participants to get deepest friendship among them.

Youth charity

Solidarity is main important thing in ASEAN way. We are born in different skin color, different nationality, different tribe, different wealth, but we are one in ASEAN. Let this activity shows that we are brother. We want to contribute to unlucky people by doing social activity such as give donation, teach English to children, plant trees, give new smile by inspiring children, etc. This agenda will be one of kind.

Understand on ASEAN Heritage

This agenda enables participants to know about Vietnamese History deeply. In ASEAN solidarity program, participants will visit some museums and historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE AND ACTIVITIES

Day 1 (Dinner served)

Arrival of participants in HCMC (airport pick up time 9 – 16.00). Transfer to accommodation. Dinner along with Meet and greet. Orientation to know a little bit on Ho Chi Minh City

Day 2 (Breakfast and Lunch served)

Introduction to Vietnam culture. Friendship activity between Indonesian and Vietnamese. Language exchange activities Workshop and talk session on ASEAN Community

Visitation to Konsulat Jenderal Republik Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City. Cultural exchange activities

 Day 4 (Breakfast and Lunch served)

Cultural exchange to local school. Activities with local school’s students. Delta Mekong Tour

Vietnamese history: Cu Chi Tunnel. Charity to orphanage. Social night: certificate presentation and farewell dinner

  2. To provide challenging inter-cultural learning experiences.
  3. To promote international friendship, volunteerism and education.
  4. To prepare young generation in welcoming ASEAN community 2015.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WILL WORK

  1. Participants will do cultural exchange, discuss about recent issues and promote friendship among two countries.
  2. Participants will involve in social work to give them a sense of humanity.
  3. Participants will get new friends and know more about Vietnam
  4. Participants will live for 6 days in Ho Chi Minh City
  5. Participants will have international experiences.

HOW MUCH WILL PARTICIPANTS PAY?

Both AYFN and local organizer don’t provide any scholarship. To take part at Indonesian Vietnamese Youth Friendship Program 2015, participants are required to pay

Guesthouse 6D/5N (twin/triple share), Airport pick up (Ho Chi Minh City Airport), Meal during program based on schedule (2 times a day), activities indicated on schedule, Certificates, souvenir of the program, and support in country. 

What’s excluded?

Passport fee, flight expenses to and from Ho Chi Minh City, personal/travel insurance (recommended), personal expenses, airport transfer, meal excluded in schedule, minibar in hotel, laundry, telephone.

Location of Program

All programs will be held in Ho Chi Minh City area, Vietnam. It’s easy to reach HCMC from your home country as it has international airport which connected to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Phnom Penh, Bandar Seri Begawan and Yangon

Accommodation and meals during program

During program in Ho Chi Minh City, participants will stay in guesthouse. The accommodations are a enjoyable and a very sociable option as you get to live and socialize with other participants and Vietnamese buddies.  Living conditions in the guesthouse are very good, clean and safe. Males and females are accommodated in separate room and per room will be occupied by 2 – 4 people.

Vietnam is renowned for its tasty and diverse food. Meals will be provided based on schedule. Meals consist of traditional Vietnamese dishes (NOT CONTAINS PORK), which participants generally find to be very generous and tasty. If you have special eating needs, please let us know ahead of time so that we can make arrangements for you. However, we need to stress the point that you should not expect to eat as you normally do at home. We will do our best to see that you are well taken care of, but also as a participant, there is a need to be flexible. There are numerous amazing restaurants throughout Ho Chi Minh City which you will be directed to by program staff if you wish to eat out occasionally.

Are you passionate to gain soft diplomacy skill into environment of International relations? Or are you dare to widen your friendship network beyond your country? Let you join and become participants at our Indonesian Vietnamese Youth Friendship Program (IVYFP) batch October 2013.

IVYFP is a platform program to connect youth from both countries Indonesia and Vietnam. This program enables all participants to discuss about recent issues, share knowledge, make a friend and abolish what we called as racism.  On 2015, we realize that ASEAN community will be implemented. By that time, ASEAN citizen will be able to interact and make harmony in diversity. To prepare in facing of ASEAN Community, we should prepare ourselves to understand each other in order to gain harmony, peace, solidarity and friendship. IVYFP is one of AYFN’s ways to contribute to ASEAN.

IVYFP has been held several times in Vietnam both in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and already met young generation from both countries to know each other. This program is initiated by AYFN Indonesia, is a youth community organization based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and supported by University of Social Sciences and Humanities, HCMC, and General Consulate of Indonesian Republic in Ho Chi Minh City.

How will the program work?

  1. Participants will be paired up and mixed become a team. Half from Indonesia, half from Vietnam (USSH students).
  2. The program will combine friendship, idea exchange, peace promotion, understanding, and solidarity.

 

Location of IVYFP Program

In this batch October 2013, IVYFP will be held the business city of Vietnam, namely Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Previous IVYFP 2011, 2011 2013 also was held in Hochiminh City, Vietnam. The city is located in south part of Vietnam. The venue of the program will be at University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

 

Start and duration of IVYFP program

IVYFP Batch October 2013 will take place on 1– 6 October 2013. During week long program, the participants will do cultural exchange, idea exchange, social work and of course trip around Ho Chi Minh City. The participants will start their program at 7.30 a.m – 17.00 p.m everyday. In the evening, participants will have free time to explore the magnificent of Ho Chi Minh City or go shopping.

 

IVYFP’s  participants requirements.

The candidates of  IVYFP should meet the criteria as follow:

  1. Must be 18 – 25 Years old (minimum high school education)
  2. Indonesian and Vietnamese nationality
  3. Able to speak English (Toefl is not required)
  4. Commit to join full program (pre, on , and post program)
  5. Able to adapt new environment easily
  6. Health physically and mentally

 

How to apply

  1. Download the application form, fill it completely and send back into ivyfp.ayfn@gmail.com
  2. Along with your application, you MUST enclose short video of yourself (contains: describe yourself, your talent, short presentation about Indonesian/Vietnam in English). Duration of video is minimum 3 minutes and the video could be simple video, but clear.
  3. The committee will confirm you whether you are accepted or not.
  4. Deadline of application : 15 August 2013 before 23.00

IVYFP program cost

One of the AYFN’s strength is to provide high quality placement program, but still affordable. To join IVYFP Program (one week program), participants must donate IDR 3,500,000,-.(Indonesian) and USD 300 (Vietnamese) Program cost should be paid after being accepted.

 

Accommodation and meals during program

During program in Ho Chi Minh City, participants will stay in hotel/guesthouse. We are looking for Indonesian youth to take part in our newest programs “Arts Immersion and Students Exchange Fieldtrip” (AISEF) and “Indonesia – Vietnam Youth Friendship Program” (IVYFP). Both programs were successfully held in 2012 and we will hold these programs in the early of 2013. AISEF will take place in Language Institute Chiang Mai University (LICMU) and IVYFP will take place in University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH).

These programs can be a positive action for Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese youth. By taking part in this program the youth can form friendship, share their knowledge and have mutual understanding each through cultural exchange.

Overview of IVYFP

IVYFP is an annual program held by ASEAN Youth Friendship Network to connect Indonesian youth and Vietnamese youth. The primary mission of this program is to become bridge for better understanding among Indonesia and Vietnam.
This program will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on 19 – 25 November 2012. By joining this program, participants will get new friends, new experience, know more about Vietnam, and unforgettable moments. Indonesian participant will have special occasion to promote Indonesian culture to Vietnamese counterpart.

Main programs:

  1. Language and culture
  2. Dance and music class
  3. Lecturing
  4. Discussing
  5. Adventure trip to Ha Long Bay

Activities:

  1. Language exchange: Indonesian students will learn basic Vietnamese language and they also will introduce Bahasa Indonesia to their counterpart in Vietnam.
  2. Lecture on Vietnam history
  3. Team building among Indonesian students and Vietnamese students.
  4. Adventure trip to Halong Bay. The participants will visit the Natural World Heritage of Halong Bay. It will be great trip since the scenery is so awesome and will amaze you.
  5. Practice Vietnamese Traditional dance and music.
  6. Cultural exchange

 

How does the IVYFP will work?

  1. The event will combine sense of friendship, adventure and cultural awareness.
  2. Indonesian students will live for one week in Vietnam
  3. Participants will be involved in social event.

 

Who will be the participants?

The participants of IVYFP are students/youth from Indonesia and Vietnam. They should active in any organization, master in English, able to adapt easily, have high determination in friendship and culture.

 

 

Term of participation
17 – 25 years old, able to work independently and in team, healthy (physically and mentally), good communication, permission from parents, and able to pay program fee.
